This singing bowl is completely made by hand. It is made up of a mix of metals; copper, bronze, brass, tin, zinc, and lead. The simplicity of the design is inspired by Zen Buddhism. The carving and colouring of the bowl is done by artists in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Handmade singing bowls are of a much higher quality than factory made bowls and this is greatly reflected in their sound quality. With handmade bowls, the sound is much more deep - it is rich with more overtones, and the bowl's resonance lasts for a prolonged length of time. The mixture of many different metals that is used when making the bowl also plays a role in bringing forth a broader spectrum of sound - more layers of texture are pronounced.
