We were invited home to this farmer and his family for a famous cup of Tibetan butter tea and homegrown boiled potatoes. Gyantse and Shigatse in Central Tibet are the agricultultural center of Tibet. In a farmer's home in Tibet, as well as in a nomad's home, the kitchen is the central place in the home, and family members even sleep here. After serving tea for us all, I asked him if I could take his picture. Tibetans have a very earhty quality to them, as well as people throughout all of the Himalayas. This quality really come out in his eyes, and I was very touched by his warmth.
